The ChangeGrid®
What is the ChangeGrid®?
Central to the ChangeWorks® System, the ChangeGrid® is a non-traditional personal and professional change management tool designed to explore individual and group performance and productivity through a highly client-driven, activity-specific approach.
The ChangeGrid® reveals the level of engagement an individual or group is experiencing at the activity level and predicts the likelihood of execution.
It serves as a practical tool of reflection and conversation, leading the client to greater insight and understanding about the challenges they face in maximizing change and provides guidance into how to best enhance their possibilities of success.
How does the ChangeGrid® compare to personality tests?
The ChangeGrid® is NOT a personality test, values survey, preferences assessment or any other sort of traditional psychometric instrument — but it works in perfect harmony with ALL of them. The ChangeGrid® picks up where they leave off, allowing the professional to put the insights gained from the instrument into positive, definitive motion toward change.
Fundamentally, the ChangeGrid® is different in many ways:
1) The ChangeGrid® explores response states not character traits.
2) The ChangeGrid® focuses on specific activities rather than on general situations.
3) The ChangeGrid® activity list is dictated by the client not imposed by the developer.
4) The ChangeGrid® is interpreted by a professional instead of automated boilerplate.
5) The ChangeGrid® reflects dynamic movement instead of static existence.
6) The ChangeGrid® is used as part of an ongoing process rather than as a one-time event.
How does the ChangeGrid® work?
The ChangeGrid® is simple to use and easy to integrate into existing change management strategies. There are six basic steps a professional takes with his or her client:
Step 1: Create an Activity List — The professional helps the client build a list of up to 50 specific, mission-critical activities related to their situation, using the online ChangeWorks® System software.
Step 2: Administer the ChangeGrid® — The client (or target population in the case of a Group ChangeGrid®) rates themselves on four dimensions for each of the activities on their list.
Step 3: Debrief the ChangeGrid® Report — The professional provides the client with a comprehensive look into the results of the ChangeGrid®, identifying activities that are well positioned for success as well as those in need of support.
Step 4: Develop Action Plans — The professional helps the client develop specific action plans for each activity, enhancing their readiness to succeed.
Step 5: Provide Support — The professional provides (or arranges for) the appropriate type and level of support the client needs for each activity.
Step 6: Monitor Progress — The professional can re-administer the same activity list to the same population as frequently as they would like in order to assess and demonstrate the progress being made.
